Schedule a time when your husband can go with you.

2.  The doctor may ask questions about your menstrual cycle.

If your cycle isn’t regular or doesn’t occur every month this can cause difficulty in conception.  When you ovulate your body releases an egg and it goes into the fallopian tubes and awaits fertilization.  Cycles for release of the egg vary in woman. It’s helpful to use calendars and timing charts that assist to tell when you are ovulating. Count from the first day you start bleeding to day 14.  The optimum time from the first day of your menses can be different from 14 and that’s why you keep an ovulating chart.  There are only about 24 hours that you can conceive during your cycle.

3.  Have the doctor verify you have no infections, especially vaginal infection.

4.  Check your immunizations for rubella and chicken pox.  If you need them it takes 3 months for the vaccines to become effective.  These immunizations are steps to prevent birth defects.

Drinking Alcohol:  Important finding shows that alcohol can prevent you from having a healthy infant.  Alcohol can affect the outcome of your baby even during conception.  The eggs from the mother and sperm from the father do better and produce a healthier baby.  It’s been linked to premature babies and the complications that comes with early delivery
